The Changing Metropolis

I still remember when these roads were new.
When this landscape seemed foreign, alien.
When this was a place for me to explore;
Stretching out in all directions like a vast labyrinth,
It’s concrete and tarmac so different from the green I was used to.

The people around me so distant and hostile.

Yet somehow the city has since shrunk.
And what seemed exotic is now familiar.
Paths which once begged to be explored are now well used.
And a metropolis which was once so vast and daunting
Now feels like home.

It’s people so welcoming and warm.
