Am I That Rare?

I was out and about once again earlier when quite an uncanny thought occurred to me. In fact I found it rather surprising that it had never noticed it before. I think I’ve mentioned that I’m encountering a lot more people using powerchairs these days, particularly cheap ones. There has obviously been a sharp rise in people identifying as disabled. The odd thing is, I’m yet to come across anyone like myself: that is to say, out on my trundles, I don’t think I’ve ever come across another powerchair user with fairly significant CP who uses a communication aid. If I have, they’ve always had a personal assistant with them or been part of some sort of disability group; they also often have learning difficulties. I kind of think going out exploring the city on my own isn’t that novel, but this realisation may suggest otherwise. Can anyone help me out with this: are there other Matts out there? Just how rare is it for someone with my level of Cerebral Palsy to be living in their own flat, going out and trundling on their own, like everyone else?
