Fahrenheit 11/9

Chilling as it is, I think it would be remiss of me not to flag this eleven minute scene from the Michael Moore film Fahrenheit 11/9 up. Truth be told, I just came across it while looking for something else completely, but found it very resonant. In it, an overt parallel is drawn between the rise of Trump and MAGA, and what happened in Germany in the 1930s. Moore’s film may have been about American politics and Trump’s first term, but it seems to speak louder today than it ever did; not just with respect to what is currently happening in america but here too, with politicians now talking about curtailing our right to protest. We live in increasingly dark, worrying times, if such doom-laden films can be so salient.
