The Nao Victoria

Just to follow up on yesterday’s entry, a bit of googling this morning told me that the ship I’d spotted in the Thames was heading to St Katherine’s dock. Thanks to the DLR, I popped that way today, and found the ship was the Nao Victoria, a replica of the first vessel to successfully circumnavigate the globe. Unfortunately I didn’t get any further as it looked too small and precarious for me to try to get on without help (when I explored the Endeavour in Sydney almost twenty years ago, I had my bro Luke to help me around). But I had already had a fascinating morning going along the cobbled streets and past the old warehouses of Wapping, before coming to an area of the metropolis which put me in mind of Monaco.
