This Must Be Happening To Everybody

I just have a quick question for you today: when you are out and about , exploring your city, and you stop to look at a street map, how often would a random person walk up to you and ask if you’re okay, or whether you have anyone with you? I presume it’s happening to everyone else, because it’s happening to me more and more regularly. I experienced it earlier today when I was trying to find my way to Green Park station: a woman came up to me and asked, in a hauty, condescending tone, whether anyone was looking after me. Never mind that I have a Master’s degree, or that I have been trundling around London independently for the last sixteen years; the fact that I use a powerchair and look a bit wobbly must automatically mean that I need someone with me at all times. Of course, this must surely be happening to everyone else, because if it was just me experiencing it, then it would mean that I am still being patronised due to my disability, and surely that can’t be the case…
