The Garden Where Time Stops

In this garden time stops.

So sat here, outside this Harlesden house,

It is thirty years ago.

My brothers and I play on the lawn before me

And all the turbulence of the last thirty years

Has yet to happen, kept at bay by the garden fence.

Isolating this place from the ever changing maelstrom beyond

So that all the plants and flowers,

Tended so lovingly by my much missed grandfather

Still grow strong. So that he could still be here

Watching over me and my brothers.

For in this garden, time stops.
