Can someone please tell me why oh why the Beeb is still flogging the dead horse which is Top Gear? I just got in from today’s trundle and saw this on their website. “Top Gear is to return to TV, the BBC has confirmed, four years after the show was ‘rested’ when co-host Andrew Flintoff was injured in a crash during filming.” I must admit I was once quite a Top Gear fan about twenty years ago, when Jeremy Clarkson was hosting it. Back then, the program seemed to have a rebellious feel to it, but it wasn’t rebellion for rebellion’s sake. The guys fronting the programme seemed to have both a genuine love of cars and seemed to know what they were talking about, so their stunts and items had a genuine point to them. Since they left, Top Gear has just felt like a lousy imitation of it’s former self, it’s hosts poor wannabe stand-ins for their predecessors.
