You could say that it’s just another bit of nostalgia, and yet another revival of a nineties cultural icon, but I would be quite fascinated to check this film out in a few weeks. I remember Ali G being on way passed my bedtime, and only catching fleeting clips of him: Although I found it funny, I don’t think I really ‘got it’ at the time. Thus I’d be interested to see what my contemporary, urban self makes of him. In a world of wannabes and pretenders, I suspect that a spoof wannabe gangsta will have quite a bit to say.
