It seems that I have been happily corrected. Yesterday I wrote that I didn’t think there were any books to accompany Michael Palin’s new Channel Five programmes. To be honest that disappointed me slightly, as I feel the books add a certain depth and background to Palin’s travelogues. I was trundling through Lewisham a bit earlier though, and thought I’d pop into Waterstones, and to my surprise came across his book covering his journey to the Philippines. I didn’t buy it as I thought I had better pop home to make absolutely sure that it somehow wasn’t already on my bookshelf; but given that the book has only just been published, I think I’ll be heading back there soon to pick up a copy. Frankly, it’s good to see this televisual highlight staying up to form.
