I just came across this New York Times article flagged up by one of my friends on Facebook, and was listening to it while eating a bit of brunch. What caught my attention, quite apart from the idiocy it details about Donald Trump, was that there’s a full, free to access audio reading of the text as well as the written article. I must admit that interests me: I often prefer to listen to online text rather than reading it, so usually just bung it through a text-to-speech tool. To see a publication as mainstream as the NY Times implementing a feature like this on their website is surely rather noteworthy, as it implies they want to encourage people with a wide range of abilities, including learning difficulties, to access their output. If so, then surely this is quite a good sign; it suggests such publications are becoming broader and more accommodating.

Mind you, the details it goes into, about Trump’s increasingly lunatic behaviour, is considerably more frightening.
