Just to follow up on what I was talking about a couple of weeks ago about islands in the River Thames, I just came across this fascinating video about that very subject. London’s largest river, it would seem, has quite a few islands, mostly upstream to the west of the metropolis. The majority are apparently small and difficult to get to, or protected wildlife habitats; but a few are large enough to visit or even live on. I’m not sure why this interests me so much, and I can see why you might find it boring; yet I just love how London still has the potential to surprise me through it’s vast geography, history, culture and everything else.
