Probably the best place I’ll be able to direct everyone today is to this ARTE documentary on life inside MAGA and the shocking political extremism which has now taken hold of America. While you can of course point out that it has it’s own political agenda to pursue, what this film reveals is nonetheless utterly chilling: an extreme political cult which it is no longer hyperbolic to call fascist. We are watching such reports from America more and more though: a far right despotism seems to have taken hold of the working class there, bringing about a kind of cult of personality which surely can only recall the darkest episodes of human history. Who knows where this might lead, and you still have to hope that there are still enough intelligent people there to put the breaks on before it’s too late. But if documentaries like this are anything to go by, I honestly think we should all be very, very worried.
