If you want to watch one of the greatest, most intellectually rigorous political videos I’ve seen in a long, long time, I would entreat everyone to go here. To be honest I started to watch it a few days ago but was interrupted. At about an hour long it isn’t a particularly easy watch, but having just sat down to give it a proper viewing from start to finish, it is one of the best deep dives into the current issues surrounding race, ethnicity and immigration I’ve come across. Jimmy the Giant does his best to unpack how the contemporary far Right are trying to distort the data in order to maintain an increasingly anachronistic racial narrative. As it becomes more and more obvious that disparities between communities are far more complex than any kind of racial hierarchy, their attempts to cling to such reductionist, intellectually moot ideas become more and more desperate and angry. Frankly, it’s good to see that people are taking the time to dig so deeply into such anachronistic notions, showing how little intellectual validity they hold in a format everyone can access.
